New MDT 2009 installer compatible with Inventor 2012 available

A new MDT 2009 installer is available on the autodesk.com web site.

The new installer is compatible with the 2012 versions of Inventor software including Autodesk® Product Design Suite 2012, Autodesk® Inventor® 2012 and Autodesk® Inventor® Professional 2012.

The new version is available only for download.

 

As before, you must have a valid installation of Inventor on the target computer before installing the MDT 2009 software.

For new installs you need to contact the Autodesk Registration Team for an Inventor 2009 license.

Mechanical Desktop 2010

A new version of MDT 2009 is now available at www.autodesk.com/mdt
 
This version is compatible with Inventor 2010 and Inventor 2009
 
Autodesk Mechanical Desktop has been discontinued and starting with the 2010 release MDT is no longer included with any Autodesk Inventor product.
To open Mechanical Desktop files in Inventor 2010 make sure to leave the MDT 2009 installation on your computer. 
If you are a previously licensed user of Mechanical Desktop software and  have uninstalled Mechanical Desktop 2009 or are installing Inventor 2010 on a new computer then you will need to download new installation files that are compatible with Inventor 2010.
The new installer for AutoCAD Mechanical Desktop 2009 is provided by a self-contained installation file that you can download here. Or, previously licensed users can also request DVD media at no additional charge.

Below are few questions and answers related to MDT 2009 and Inventor 2009/2010.

Question 1: Can I continue to use my current MDT2009 with Inventor 2009 and Inventor 2010?
Answer :Yes users can continue to use previously installed MDT2009 version with Inventor 2009

Question 2:If I leave the old version, will this version be working with both R2009 and R2010? 
Answer : Yes

Question 3: What exactly changed in the installer? 
Answer : The change allows the MDT 2009 installer to recognize and install against an Inventor 2010 installations – nothing else has changed.
