You would like to add other properties to the existing ones in the File Name and Part Number columns of your Content Center Families.
For instance, you want to add the size to your bearing family.
Besides, you want that, inserting the Standard Parts from this family, the Browser name to be equal to Part Number or File Name.
So, you have copied the family to the custom library and added the required info editing the File Name and the Part Number columns properties.
So, when you insert one member of the family, the modifications appear correctly in the file properties.
But the Browser name is still the one of the default schema.
In order to get the Browser name to be equal to Part number or File Name you have to apply the following steps as well.
- In the CC Editor, edit the Family Table.
- Edit the File Name Column Properties.
- In the Map To Inventor Property field, select Member.Display Name.
After you have published the change, you can update the browser display for the assemblies where you have already inserted the members of the family, simply opening them and making a Refresh (menu Manage > Content Center).

Hi, I'm just wondering if the CC is treating the CC-parts in a new way since 2010 verison. My company just upgraded from 2010 to 2012. In CC we had several custom libraries were we had done something like that you explain here. But there's one difference and that is we mapped the Part number property to the Project.Description property, which in 2010 and previous version would leave the part number property field blank. Our part list in the dwg's are custom made and do not have enough space for a relatively long text string in the part number area...To wrap this up, is there a quick way to make the part number property blank in custom CC-libraries in 2012 version?

Hi Ingar,
Let's assume that, for the families in your custom libraries, the Stock Number is empty.
In order to get an empty Part Number as well, do the following.
Edit the Family Table.
Edit the Part Number column properties.
In the expression write =.
Map back the column to Project.Part Number.
If the Stock Number field is not empty, you can use another blank property (i.e.: =)
I hope it helps.

Sorry, but it seems there is a problem with the comment editor
The left and right angled bracket symbols don't display
So, where it's written =, please read:
=left angled bracket symbol Stock Number left angled bracket symbol
Of course replacing the letters with the corresponding symbols.
Of course the same for:
(i.e.: =left angled bracket symbol Keywords left angled bracket symbol.)
I hope it's clear.
Regards,
Ale
