Since R2010, Inventor's installer uses two main MSI files, one for global functionality and one MSI for the language pack. When trying to uninstall R2010 in the Control Panel, Inventor's setup program will try to uninstall both MSI files. In some special situations, Inventor 2010 Beta's language pack MSI does not get uninstalled. The R2010 Beta entry is removed in the Control Panel, but the language pack gets left behind. A typical symptom is the error message "Error 1308. Source file not find" when attempting to install the final release version of R2010 after the incomplete uninstall of a R2010 beta version.
If you have encountered the error above please use the following procedure to completely uninstall R2010.
1. Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility from Microsoft:
<http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301>
2. Launch Windows Installer CleanUp Utility.
3. Remove the two Autodesk Inventor Professional 2010 entries. Delete the folder where Inventor was installed (default is C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2010).
4. Remove the Autodesk shared folder only if Autodesk Inventor was the only product installed (default is C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared).![]()
The screenshot shows the situation of a Beta2 installation.
